Who is Prodigy? |
Prodigy® has one of the highest quality products on the market today. We’re a high-tech company based in Charlotte, NC, and manufacture easy-to-use, English/Spanish talking blood glucose meter systems (the talking can be turned off) with No Coding needed. Our accuracy meets or exceeds all of our competitors and we are one of the few manufacturers not affected by the GDH-PQQ issue. |
|
Who’s affected? |
All Medicaid members must use Prodigy® brand monitors and supplies after November 15, 2009. Members that have Medicare or third party insurance as well do not have to change, but Prodigy® is available to them as well. Retail and DME’s must bill with specific NDC’s for Prodigy® in order to be reimbursed. |
|
What’s affected? |
All blood sugar testing supplies must be Prodigy®, primarily the Prodigy AutoCode®. This includes the meter, test strips, control solutions and syringes, if necessary. Specific NDC’s are available for ordering. |
|
When? |
Effective November 15, 2009. The State sent out an email blast October 12 and is sending out provider and member letters on Friday, October 16. |

How do I get supplies? |
Prodigy® meters, test strips, control solutions, |

What is the Cost |
Due to specific reimbursement guidelines from the State, suppliers must bill with Prodigy® NDC numbers as well as purchase at one single rate for the entire state. The State wants a level playing field for all providers regarding the cost. |
